Dr Mary Meurer-Laban was Consultant Anaesthetist at the Ealing Hospital London, U.K. and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Department of Anaesthetics at Imperial College School of Medicine. She partially retired from the health service in April 2008. She qualified from Sydney University NSW Australia and Prince Alfred Hospital in 1965 and obtained her Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists of Great Britain in 1970. She practices privately at the Princess Grace Hospital and the Clementine Churchill Hospital. She has admitting rights at most of the other major private central hospitals.
Dr Laban has worked continually with Mr John Lynn as his specialist endocrine anaesthetist for 29 years both in the NHS and privately. Throughout her anaesthetic career, Dr Laban has given anaesthesia for all surgical specialities. Her experience of head and neck surgical anaesthesia for endocrine conditions is unrivalled in the UK. At present she specialises in endocrine, urological, obstetrics and orthopaedic anaesthetics. She also leads the Acute Pain Service at the Ealing Hospital and provides an epidural service for chronic back pain. Both her children are surgical trainees.
