Are there any complications when coming round from Anaesthesia?

The emergence from anaesthesia is almost always an uneventful event. 20-40% of patients will have nausea and/or vomiting afterwards. This is known as post operative nausea and vomiting (PONV). PONV is about two and a half times more common in women than men.
