Amenorrhoea
Disorders of ovulation can present in two major ways:
- Irregular (oligomenorrhoea) or absence (amenorrhoea) of the menstrual cycle
- Infertility
What is amenorrhoea?
A normal menstrual cycle lasts for approximately 21-35 days with a normal period lasting 3-7 days. Primary amenorrhoea is the term given when a girl has not menstruated by the age of 16. Secondary amenorrhoea is the absence of menstruation for six months in a woman who has previously menstruated normally.
